Masaki Kaneko used to go to a baby swimming class from when he is zero years old, it means he has been getting familiar with the water ever since he can remember. Masaki's brother, he put Masaki's soul to swim."My brother had been a backstroke swimmer, so I also started that. I wanted to catch up with and overtake my brother. I have tried my best to do that," Masaki said.When he was in third grade at high school, he could overtake his brother's best record. Even now his brother has a Japan record of 100m backstroke in Masters Tournament. At the time, a swim suit has gotten public attention because swimmers who wore that got a series of world records. Masaki has also worn the swim suit. He cut nine seconds off the former record of 200m backstroke and got attention. However, he hasn't yet have enough power. His weight is 75kg now, but at the time, it was 60kg. It was too slim for him."My mother made a two-tiered carbohydrate lunch box everyday, and my father gave me a massage after trainings. They supported me. My father praise me anyway. if the result time was bad, he found a good point at least and said 'Great!'. That was my confidence and motivated me." Masaki said.Now, he is going to be on a dream stage. He says that his family's support is his highly emotional mainstay."At the Rio 2016, it's my minimum goal to get new personal best in the semi-finals and go into the finals. I'll take a chance in the finals and make an impression and courage at the Rio 2016." Masaki said.
